The conference between representatives of the railway companies and the railway unions iias been adjourned until Friday. The companies arc anxious for immediate economies. It is reported that their proposals involve a reduction of about £2,000,000 a year in the rail way men’s earnings. if no agreement is reached the companies will probably press their claims before the National Wages Board, a procedure which many unionists would prefer.
