The Assistant-Postmas'ter-General Viscount Wolmer, stated in the House of Commons to-day that the number of broadcasting licenses issued in Britain now exceeded 2,500,000. A further anonymous gift of £IO,OOO has been made to the Duke of York’s fund on behalf of (he Playing Fields Association, tire aim of which is the provision of open spaces for recreation in crowded districts. WARSAW, July 5. The air services between Warsaw, Dantzig, and Vienna have been suspended as a result of 111 e pilots and mechanics going on strike. The stoppage follows the refusal of the men’s claim for an increase of JO per cent, in their wages. PARIS, July 5. The Chamber of Deputies lias unanimously approved the Bill introduced by the Minister of Labour, M. Louis Louchcur, to provide £88,000,000 during tlie period from 1028 to 1983 for building 200,000 cheap houses, and 00,000 belter bouses, which will be let at moderate rentals. BELGRADE, July 4.
The Leader of the Yugoslavian Peasants’ Party, Mr Stefan Kadilch, who was shot and wounded in Parliament, by a former Minister, Dr. Rachitch, on June 20, lias summoned his colleagues and others to a conference at the hospital, where he is recovering rapidly from his wound.
