RELIGIOUS CONTROVERSY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Having closely followed the correspondence on religious matters in your columns, I fully appreciate the vast assumptions, the numerous opinions and the few facts given by your correspondents. In considering the relative merits of. all, sides of the arguments put forth, it is essential to keep before us the extent to which each is superior, on the one hand, and the degree of inferiority exhibited by each in respect to the others on the other. It may be seen by a careful survey that unless some agreement is come to the relative claims of each will be a matter of dissent. If all people would only conform to the right ceremonies and follow the correct rules and obey the real laws, it would be so satisfactory that their morals wouldn’t matter at all, whether better or worse than their guides. Considering all things, there is probably much to be said for and against all sides, and it is evident that any alteration is bound to result in a changed state of affairs and Tweedledum may yet become Tweedlcdee, and how pretty that would be for us all?—I am, etc., MONTY.
