CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL. WON' BY PERKINS. LONDON, May 26. The final of the British amateur golf championship was won by Perkins. He was 2upon R. H. Wethered at the end of the morning round, and finally won by 6 up and 4 to play.
HAMILTON CLUB. The first round for the Gilbey Cup was played at St. Andrew's on Saturday. The scores returned are as follows i- I —Swarbrick 1 up, N. Ross all square, Sutcliffe 1 down, Fisher 1 down, M. W. Horton 1 down, G. Wilkes 1 down, F. Booth 1 down, W. D. Ross 2 down, A. T. Atkins 2 down, T. Simpson 3 down, L. Champion 4 down, W. Gray 4 down, Eggleston 4 down, Morpeth" 4 down, C. Bindon 8 down. In connection with play on Saturday afternoon in competitions members are re- linden that it is not necessary to stari at the first tee. In order to get as many players as possible on the links, competitors may start at any tee, providing n others are within reasonab’" distance of the preceding hole. A remarkable happening took place at the first hole when Gillies and Hogben, playing together, each sank their putts for twos. On the King's Birthday when the .Winter Show Tournament is being played the links will be closed to members of the ladies’ club.
