HUNTLY’S DECISIVE WIN.

DEFEAT OF HAMILTON THIRTEEN

SPARKLING PLAY. I i Supporters of the League code of football were provided with their fourth game of the season on Saturday afternoon, when the Hamilton thirteen opposed a strong Huntly side at Hinemoa Park and were disposed of to the time of 21 points to 7. The teams were level at half-time, but over the concluding stages of play the visitors asserted themselves and ran out comfortable winners. While the local team handled well in the early stages of the game, the quality of their play fell away towards the end, when they fumbled badly and Huntly made full profit from these mistakes. The tackling was good right through the game. An Effective Side. The Huntly team was a very heavy one and the local forwards did not stand much of a chance. The visitors’ backs combined very well indeed towards the close of tiie game and some very attractive periods of play were witnessed. The teams lined out as follows:

Hamilton—Hines; S. Muir, Everest, L. Muir; Hill, G. Quinn; Vernall; Aslle Williams, Quin, Woodhall, Everest and Hogg. Huntly—G. Raynor; S. Raynor, P. Miki, B. Paki; Smith, Whorskcy; Kasoof; R. Stevenson, T. Stevenson, Timms, Jones, Mason and Traveller. ; The game opened with the Hamilton learn facing a strong wind. The local side pressed from the kick-off and play was soon in tho visitors’ twenty-five. Huntly in endeavouring to clear were ruled against and S. Muir kicked a good goal for Hamilton. Huntly 7 Hamilton 2 Pressure Kept Up. The visitors attacked strongly and play was in the local side’s twenty-five. At this stage S. Muir (Hamilton) retired owing to injury. Huntly still attacked and gave Hamilton a lively time, hut Huntly missed chances by fumbling badly and also suffered through offside tactics. Huntly broke away from halfway with a clear field in front, hut L. Muir stayed the attack as it approached the line. Hamilton Even the Tallies. Huntly’s handling at this stage was perfect, hut offside play often held ‘them up. The close of the first half saw Hamilton pressing hard and Astle scored a good try. Hill converted, and the half-time scores were: Hamilton 7 Huntly 7 On the resumption of play Hamilton, with tile wind behind them pressed strongly, but Huntly, tackling solidly, stemmed the attacks. S. Raynor, securing the hall from a scrum, raced down the line and scored in the corner. The kick failed. Huntly 10 Hamilton 7 At this stage of the game Hill retired with an injured hip. Hamilton were passing well, but Astle and Everest failed to combine and the effort failed. Huntly then took charge and carried Lhe hall to the home line, but a very spectacular passing rush by the Hamilton hacks carried the hall to the visitors’ line. A Forward Advance. Huntly retaliated, and' the forwards dribbling well carried the hall over the line to score. The try was converted. Huntly 15 Hamilton 7 Towards the close of the game Huntly tried many passing rushes and scored two tries in quick succession, but both kicks failed. The game ended: Huntly 21 Hamilton 7 Mr W. Perry was referee. Miki, Paki and S. Raynor were the outstanding hacks in the visitors’ team, while Everest, Ilincs and Muir were most noticeable in the local team’s rear-guard. JUNIOR GAME. HAMILTON DEFEAT TAUPIRI. Hamilton Juniors had the better of the game with Taupiri, winning by 8 points to G. Muir, captain.of the local team, played a very good game. A WIN FOR TAUPIRI. SUCCESS OYER NGARUAWAHIA.

In the senior contest between Taupiri and Ngaruawahia on Saturday afternoon Taupiri proved victorious by 15 points to 6, after a good game. AUCKLAND. There was some very bright play in the League games at Auckland on Saturday, especially ‘he match between Ponsonby and Richmond. Results were:— Senior A.—Ponsonby 10 v. Richmond 6; Marisls 2G v. Ellerslic 8; City 6 v. Newton 3. Senior B.—Otahuhu 8 beat Parnell 5; Mangcrc 11 heat Point Chevalier 5.

CHRISTCHURCH. Marist 29 beat Woolston 2; Addington W beat Sydenham 8; Hornby 17 beat Walmairi 11. DUNEDIN. Christian Brothers Old Boys 55 beat Kaikorai 0; City 7 beat Pacitlo 5.
