MATAMATA.
County Chairman Honoured. At the last meeting of the Matamata Coujty Council a tribute was paid to the chairman, Mr J. W. Anderson, when Gr. Dee proposed that, in view of the chairman's long service extending over 18 years his portrait should be -displayed in 'the Council Chamber. The suggestion was unanimously agreed to and Mr Anderson was requested to have his photograph taken, the councillors undertaking that it would be suitably framed. Workers' Educational Association. Although Matamata has not been favoured by the services of a tutor this year, the W.E.A. classes have been carried on by a few enthusiasts under their "box" sys Lem. ■ The subject of "Opera" has recently been studied, with the assistance of many excellent gramophone records. Quite a number of people are finding the classes a pleasant and profitable way of spending the winter evenings.
