MINER KILLED. BURIED IN FALL OF EARTH. (By Telegraph —Press Association./ DUNEDIN, Wednesday. While working in the Shag Point coal mine this morning 'William James Robinson was buried under a fall of earth and killed. Mr Robinson, who was a single man aged 36 years, waserecting some staging in company with a workmate when six tons of earth fell from above. His companion jumped clear, receiving only a cut on Lhe head, but Mr Robinson was completely buried. The body was recovered after three hours’ digging. DEATH FROM HEART TROUBLE. GISBORNE, Thursday. “Death due to fatty degeneration of the heart,” was the verdict returned by the coroner in the case of George Miller, aged 60, farm hand, who was found dead in bed at Matawai. Riddell, S.M., concerning the death of Mark Berney Breeze, an ex-soldier, aged 31, who fell into the harbour on Saturday night. At an inquest concerning the death of George Theobald Day, aged 45, Taumarunui, whose body was found in Kauri Gully, Northeote, a verdict of suicide was returned. SPINE INJURED BY FALL. AUCKLAND, Thursday. Severe injury lo the spine was sustained early yesterday morning hy.Mr John Veal, aged 45, employed as .1 fireman on Messrs Sanford's trawler Surfib, when be fell from the deck of the vessel on to the concrete floor of the cool store chamber in the hold, a distance of about 15ft. His condition is reported to be serious. OTHER ACCIDENTS. Suffering from a fracture of the pelvis, the result of a fall, Mr Josepii Gagich, aged 54, a fisherman from Mercury Bay, was brought to Auckland yesterday by the steamer Apanui. His condition is fairly serious. While cycling home last evening Mr John B. Merrick, aged 37, a carpenter, sustained a compound fracture of the right leg through being involved in a collision with a motor car driven by Mr A. 11. Cameron. CRASH OVER BANK. While driving along the Te AkauNgaruawahia Rd., on Tuesday afternoon Mr N. Pullick, of Hamilton, drove his car over a ditch and inlo a bank. Both he and Mr Henry, farmer of To Akau, who was with him, escaped injury,, although about £2O worth of damage was done to the car. Mr Pullick said the rays of the sun caught on the windscreen and dazzled him. The car was insured.
