ALMADALE JERSEYS.
GOOD PRICES REALjSED. The annual offering of pedigree Jersey stock, on benalf of Mr W. H. Miors'. was conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co. and Abraham and Williams. Ltd., at the vendor’s farm yesterday. Mr. C. ,E. Robertson, sales manager Tor Wright, Stephenson and Co., said that the stock offered would make a great foundation for any herd in th* Dominion. Mr. W. Miers had been is the Jersey business for a number of years and had received his educatio* in the right school. He secured his famous herd from Mr. T. Church soma years ago, and as a result he now possessed one of the greatest herds in Australasia. The herd had a reputation for great productive ability, and a unique opportunity was offered to secure the right blood of this great strain. The bidding opened briskly, and as we went to press satisfactory prices were maintained. Of the IS cows offered an average price of £43 iis 10d was secured. The highest priced cow was Jersey Brae Seaweed, which secured 110 guineas. The cows sold were:— Yearling Heifers. The ten yearling heifers to fall to the. hammer reached an average of 36 1-5 gns., the highest figure, 55 gns., being paid by J. McGovern, Te Awamutu. for Almadale Gleam. Almadale Gleam —J. McGovern, Te Awamutu, 55 gns. Almadale Dainty—B. Williams, Matangi, 48 gns. Almadale Chelsea Maid —J. Moody, Whatawhata, 47 gns. Almadale Ringlet—A. Riches, Tauranga, 35 gns. Almadale Promise —A. Riches, Tauranga, 32 gns. Almadale Heatherb’ell —A. Riches, Tauranga, 31 gns. Almadale Silver Dawn —J. Moody, Whatawhata, 31 gns. Almadale Crystal—V. M. Hitchings, Otorohanga, 30 gns. Almadale Dimple— <R. W. Te Awamutu, 30 gns. Almadale Margot—A. Riches, Tauranga, 25 gns. Bulls. A number of the bulls offered were passed in, the figure reached not meeting with the approval of the vendor. The eight head knocked however, realised 338 gns., an average of 42J gns. Ku Ku Majesty Owl —B. Williams,; Matangi, 70 gns. Almadale Son —J. W. Smith, Mepcury Bay, 54 gns. Almadale Sultan’s Noble —R. Simpson, Te Awamutu, 47 gns. Almadale Fox’s Major—A. Torehape, 40 gns. Almadale Coronet—F. H. Thompson, Waihi, 36 gns. Almadale Defiance—E. W. Sopeiv Whatawhata, 34 gns. Almadale Some Boy—A. W. Gallagher, Te Kawa, 30 gns. Almadale Changeller—G. Putaruru, 27 gns. A total of 1442 gns. was realised on the stock knocked down to the hammer, but this figure will be increased by those sold by private tender. The average price over all wad accordingly over 40 gns.
