CAPTAIN WILKINS’ OBJECT. TO ASSIST AUSTRALIA. PRECAUTIONS AGAINST DROUGHT. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) (Received May 22, 9.10 a.m.) OSLO, May 21. Captain Wilkins says his object in polar exploration is less to diseovei land than to obtain meteorological data for the benefit of the world. For example lie desires to assist Australia in precautions against drought and save hundreds of thousands of sheep. This is one of llic objects of his South Polar expedition. Marconi assured him that a short wave system of weather reports is feasible.
