(Bi TeIP £™ ISTGHURC H, Saturday in reference to the eases in which two returned soldier-farmers wro charged witli breaches of the Chattels Transfer Act were acquitted the Supreme Court, the Can terbury Land Board has passed he the following resolution :- "This board regrets that the published reports of two recent cases inferred that the blame for taking action is cast upon the Lands Board or Lands Department. This is not the case the board's records being available to the press to bear this out.

In one of the cases referred to Mr Justice Adams remarked: "Responsible officers of the Crown should no take proceedings without sufficient reason and competent advice." He told the jury to-day that there was no evidence that John Blair, a farmer, had committed a breach of the Chattels Transfer Act
