MOTOR CAR MARVEL.

NEW FORD ARRIVES.

SURPRISE FOR PUBLIC. SPEED AND COMFORT. For months speculation has been rife concerning the nature of the new Forrl family which is said to constitute a new departure in the motoring world Last Thursday the first 13 exhibition models to arrive from the Canadian works were landed at Auckland and assembled preparatory to a Dominion tour. This morning the first model to DO seen in Hamilton—the "Tudor" sedan was given trial runs about the town and on all sides nothing but praise could be heard. There was a good deal of surprise, too. for the car proved to be everything that advance notices had described. The "Tudor" sedan is a revelation. First impressions lead one to believe one is viewing what might easily be the most expensive car known to the industry. On its appearance the "Tudor" would command the attention of anv prospective buyer.. Its long, low lines reveal an atmosphere of comfort and stability which make an instant appeal even before the mechanical advantages have been inspected, upholstery and a substantial breadth of plate glass confirms tin impression of luxury and refinement.

Exclusive Features. Mr J. L. Broun, service manager for the Colonial Motor Company, who arc Lhe wholesale distributors for the Dominion, was overwhelmed with questions by private inquirers this morning, and there were few question? that were not. satisfactorily answered Exclusive features distinguish the new Ford from any other car placed on the market in recent years, in every part "the Ford genius," which has been demonstrated to be more than a mere catchphrase, is evident. Although thu car had little, opportunity to show its resistance to rough roads around Hamilton, its potentialities in this respect are made possible through hydraulic shock absorbers placed on the old transfer springs. Four-wheel brakes bring the model in line with tn.e lalest improvements. Then again, in no part of the construction is malleable iron cxisleni, all-steel forgings being an entirely novel innovation. Ignition is bv battery, coil and high tension distributor. Instead of the usual long spark plug wires there is a special distributor over the cylinder head. The body of the new "Tudor" is insulated from the chassis by a heavy fabricated material from end to end. This dispenses with all friction and "rattles" annoying to the sensitive motorist.

Even the wheels are of a new design. The spokes arc not screwed into the rim, but are virtually steel rods, welded at both the hub and rim contacts so that it is impossible for them to become disconnected.

Exhaustive Tests. It is not difficult to realise that the new car is the result of months of experiment and alterations before perfection was attainable. It is said each model has been driven thousands o: miles over all kinds of country in order to test its durability down to each nut and bolt. If it is the small things that count then the new Ford is a marvel of detail in all ways. As far as speed, comfort, stamina and appearance are' concerned, nothing has been neglected. Discussing the merits of model "A, Mr-Broun said since its introduction ;o the public overseas, underwriters had reduced the insurance rate by 25 per cent., owing to the sound and reliable safeguards offered against Ore. The "Tudor" sedan travelled at 30 miles to the gallon, and was capable of doing 'io m.p.h. in second gear, lie was confident that the "Tudor" would prove to be the most popular, although the other types—the "Fordor," coupe, sport coupe, roadster and phaeton—were all triumphs of construction and difficult to equal for their particular uses. The public will have an opportunity of seeing the new Fords and their capabilities at the Waikato Winter Show next week.
