WATER-DIVINING.

CRITICISM BY PROFESSOR. AUCKLAND, Saturday. “When I criticise water-divining, I do not deny it has shown where water may be found, but I have never seen a successful divination in places where the geological data was definitely against the presence of water,” said' Professor J. A. Bartnim, in a lecture on “Underground Water” to the Auckland Agricultural Science Club last, evening. “I happen to be one of those romantic individuals known as waferdiviners,” said Mr W. S. Hill, in questioning the professor at the close of the lecture. He claimed that divination was not self-delusion. “In going along one. gets a reaction, indicating the presence of water in all sorts of illogical places," declared Mr Hill. Generally speaking, the records of experiments were againsl the diviner, replied Professir Bartrum.
