LAST MINUTE RUSH.
LICENSING OF VEHICLES. POST OFFICE OFFICIALS BUSY. The old motto, “Better Late Than Never," was well-illustrated yesterday and this morning when, notwithstanding the repeated warnings that have appeared in our columns reminding car owners of the duty of registration and the inconvenience of delay, queues of late arrivals were seen waiting their turn in the Hamilton Post Office Savings Banks. At 9.30 a.m. to-day over GOO ears and other motor vehicles had yet to be re-licensed. The postal officials have had a busy time indeed in Ihe last few days necessitating their working long hours to cope with the extra work. Ail applications have to be indexed so that a car r/in be identified at a moment’s notice, and Ibis classification naturally calls for a considerable amount of work. As the office closed at noon, there are bound lo be a number of disappointed motorists, who will have lo wait dfttil Monday before they can legally use their cars.
Drivers’ Licenses. With over 2500 drivers’ licenses to lie laken out in the Hamilton Borough at D. 30 this morning only 1252 had been issued. This means that many drivers over the week-end will be laying themselves open lo prosecution if tlicv drive a vehicle.
