MATAMATA BRANCH. Wl THE ANNUAL MEETING. | There was a good attendance at the j annual meeting of the Malania ta Plunket Society. In the absence of the ! president, Mrs T. J. Underwood, owing j to illness. Mrs W. Gordon presided- j The annual report stated that the work for the past year had gone up steadily. Visits totalling 1009 were paid lo the‘room, mothers coining long distances for advice.
After paying at tribute to the services of the nurse (Miss Parker), the report referred to Ihe necessity for more accommodation. There was no waiting or rest-room, hut unfortunately the branch was not in a position to afford anything better at present. Last winter an electric radiator was installed. A concert organised by Mrs John Montague realised £l4. The committee felt deeply indebted lo Mrs Montague for her substantial help, as at limes it hud appeared difficult to sec how the work could he carried on. Children’s plain and adults’ fancy dress halls were also held as a further means of augmenting the fund. The public supported the functions generously with donations, prizes and provisions. The report concluded by an expression of appreciation of the Cambridge branch (to which Matamala is attached) for its consideration and assistance. 1
The balance-sheet, which showed a credit on the year’s working,_ and the report were adopted.

Stewart; committee, Mesdanies D. Montague, A. Findlaler, W. Wore, J. Mclntyre, R. MeCrcady, T. Blonnorliasscll, Geo. Johnston, G. W. Turner, G. Taylor, J. F. Wells, Sis!or McAlister, and Nurse Moore; advisory committee, Dr. I.auronson, Messrs G. G. Bell and G. A. Stevens. It was decided that in future meetings he held on the second Friday in every month.
The nurses’s report slated that 523 adults, 448 babies and 12.8 children had visited Ihe rooms during the year. For March the total was 115. A hearty vote of thanks to the nurse for tier services and to I lie outgoing officers concluded the meeting.
