Several hundred acres are administered by the Domain Board, " a principally as leasing authority; in 1 addition it is the function of the board "j to. administer the fine Memorial Hall, which stands upon land presented to the board for the purpose, by Mrs and , Mr J. Berry, of Pirongia. Water Board. 5 A meeting of those desiring a permanent water supply and whose investigations have led them to believe that a supply of this nature is awaiting the necessary harnessing on the eastern slopes of Pirongia Mountain, was held here on Tuesday evening. About eight , interested farmers attended. '. It was decided to apply to the Waipa County Council to take over the scheme j and carry' it through to fulfilment, under arrangements somewhat similar j to that followed in the formation of j drainage boards. Football. There.arc rumours that all is not ; entirely well with the newly-formed . club. "The juniors particularly are . adverse to the new management, so it . is said. It is confidently asserted on , the other hand that these little riiflil culties can be easily settled and that Pirongia will put a senior team in the Held this season which will earn the respect of all concerned. (So may it be.) . Viie Mountain. I A parly which combined sightseeing , with pig and goat hunting arrived from as far afield as Onehunga and spent the week-end in the bush. There was no lack of game and the party appeared to be well pleased with the beautiful view and the good hunting obtained, fully justifying their long trip from the Manakau metropolis. Another party ascended the mountain on Sunday, and spent a highly entertaining time picking up many of the points of interest obtainable with aj good glass from the mountain Lob.
Obituary. It was with profound regret that the news of Mrs McLean's (of Mangapiko) death was received here. The deceased lady was well-known in Pirongia, where on many occasions she rendered valuable assistance with all kinds of entertainments of a worthy nature. The sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances is extended to her bereaved husband and family.
