HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.
CAMBRIDGE POWER BOARD. the FEBRUARY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Electric Power Board was held on Friday. Those present were Messrs M wells (chairman), W. Harbutt, J. Fisher, T. A. Hicks, J. T. Entwistle l. Lye, F. M. Oliver (secretary) and H. C. Gatin (engineer). A report was submitted by the secretary pointing out the necessity for some reorganisation of the staff a-nd for better control of the hoard’s stores—After some consideration it was resolved that the engineer, with the assistance of the inspector, undertake the town readings each month, thus relieving the meterreader to enable him to take charge of the issue and recording of stores, and that, excepting in time of emergency he he given sole charge of same.
Emergency Power. The Cambridge Dairy Co. submitted an account tor £B4 19s 3d for an emergency supply of electricity cluiing the recent breakdowns at Hora Dora. The chairman remarked that when looking into details of the account he was satisfied that Ihc company was not making a profit out of it. The point about the matter, said Mi Wells, was that the breakdown was no fault of the board, which had done all in ils power to keep faith with tn« consumers. , . . . , H was unanimously resolved to hand the account on to the Public Works Department for payment. It was decided to instruct the engineer to arrange for a suitable exhibit of electrical appliances, pumps, etc., at the forthcoming Agricultural Show. The secretary submitted the following statement of balances in the board's accounts at Ihe Bank of New Zealand: Cr. loan account, £5028 3s Id; or. installation loan account, £222 as 4d; dr. power fund account, £l9 <9 Is <jd. Accounts amounting to £GO9 9s 9d were passed lor payment.
