FIRE STILL BURNING.
RESIDENTS IN FEVERISH STATE.
(By Telegraph—Special to Times.)
TE AROHA, Saturday
This morning it was noticed that a large tract of hillside was bereft of Us once green mantle. The fire is still burning, and unless rain falls it is quite apparent that the conflagration will continue until it destroys every vestige of growth right to tiic hilltop. The Ore covered the. borough water catchment area, and it is ditllcult to know what effect it will have on the present water supply, which already is well below normal. The townspeople have been in a feverish state for the past 24 hours on account of the danger of wind veering townwards. The whole of the mountain’s forest is in imminent danger of destruction.
