WAIKATO ASSOCIATION MEETS. GENERAL BUSINESS. At a meeting of the Waikato Cricket Association last evening, when Mr P. Johnson presided, there were present Messrs P. Hawke, A. Taylor, 11. Wilson, P. Mitchell, A. Malloy, L. G. I-Jemus, E. J. L. Whiting (treasurer), and V. A. Dixon (secretary). Speaking on the trouble experienced through a certain member of the Hamilton team playing against Auckland failing to make an appearance on the second day of the match, several members spoke strongly against his discourtesy in failing to supply the requested explanation. It was unanimously decided to demand an explanation of the player in question, failing which to suspend him from all matches under the association's jurisdiction this season. It was thought advisable that the unfinished game between Hamilton and Hamilton East be concluded on February 6 in order that the sequence of competition matches would not be interrupted. The following players were registered with the Frankton Club: Senior B, 11. Childs; junior, A. Ilatley. J. Menzies and C. Mudford were registered for the Ngaruawahia Senior B grade. The Australian visiting team intimated by telegram that they had fixed the date to play Waikato on March 7 and 8. —It was decided to accept the dates proposed. The Waitoa Cricket Club wrote requesting a match with a Hamilton team on January 29. The correctness of the date was queried, and it was decided to communicate with Waitoa informing them that if they wanted to play on a Sunday, January 29, it could be arranged to match them with a Railway team, but if they wanted to play on Monday the request would be out of the question, as all the Hamilton teams would be engaged on that date. Mr Hawke remarked that Kalpakl wished to arrange a game with a Hamilton senior B team. —The matter was finally left in the hands of Mr Malloy, the Junior selector. The question of ground fees for the proposed Kaipaki and Putaruru match was briefly discussed, and it was settled that in the event of the team playing here the Juniors be charged 2s 6d each, inclusive of dinner and afternoon tea. Mr. Whiting's motion thate the ground fees for senior matches be fixed ut 3s per man, Inclusive of dinner and afternoon tea, was agreed upon. The question of transport of players to Wanganui was discussed at length, and it was pointed out that unless the hour of play was put back until at least 12 a.m. players would be too tired after their train journey. It was decided to write Wanganui asking them to make the time of starting 12 noon. Mr Mitchell, in moving that the council be approached with the view to having a mass of blackberry in Hinemoa Street adjoining Seddon Park removed, dwelt on the annoyance that this weed had caused the association through numerous balls being lost in it. —It was decided to approach the council on the matter. The ordinary competition matches were decided to be carried on with as usual. The team picked to play FrankUn on Monday for the Pratt Cup is: —S. Heyworth, R. Skcet, S. Senior, E. Everest, Dr. Hockin, J. Dufty, F. Lenihan, R. Allen, S. A. Hunwick, R. Clough, N. Wilson. Emergencies: Christian, Gassidy, Connolly, and It. Johnston. PIAKO SUB-ASSOCIATION. Matamata defeated Wardville, at Wardville on Saturday, gaining a threepoint win. " Scores were as follows: Matamata 110 (Mehrtens 29, Ayrcs 10, J. Carroll 13, Johnstone, not out, 45 runs). Wardville (first innings), 32 runs; (second innings), 30 runs. (F. Carroll 13, T. Skeat 14).
