The Italian Ambassador on behalf of the'ltalian Government has presented, the British Government with the first copy printed of the special Centenary edition of Ugo Foscolo's poems, prefaced with the following inscription signed by Mussolini: ... '. - 'To England, hospitable to - the exile and first burying place of' Ugo Foscolo, the Head-, of the Italian Government has presented this book on:, the centenary of the- death of the Italian: poet as a mark of gratitude and token of lasting spiritual fellowfeeling between two nations." V- :■ The volume will be placed in the British Museum. Foscolo was buried at Turnham Green, and his remains ; . were transferred to'Florence in 1871. Ugo Foscolo (1778-1827) a wellknown Italian author, for his political opinions, had to leave the University • of Pavia. He went to London and was there employed in literary work. ..He produced many admirable translations/ but ultimately died in poverty at Thurnham Green. v , His remains were
