POWER EXTENSIONS.
POSITION IN HAMILTON. PRIMARY DISTRIBUTION FEEDERS. REORGANISATION OF SUPPLY. The Hamillon Borough Council will require £3500 from the accumulated renewal funds of the electrical department at the end of May, J 928, to assist in carrying out reorganisation of the primary distribution feeders in the No. 1 area. The work involves the cutting out of the present transformer house and the erection of a new one at, the corner of Boyce and Hinemoa Streets, the replacing of the existing 3000 volt to 400-230 volt transformers by 11,000 volt to .400230 transformers and the replacing of the 3000 volt overhead feeders by 11,000 volt underground cables.
The total cost involved in the completed scheme for feeder reorganisation, excluding the Frankton area of the borough, is estimated at £10,540, but of this only £5840 is likely to be required to carry out the works contemplated at present and for which, the call on the renewal fund is being made.
Authority for the withdrawal of the £3500 required from the fund has been given.
The Domain Board last night advised the Hamilton Borough Council that it had no objection to the latter body preceeding with the sub-station building prior to the exchange of land being 'effected, provided the plans were approved.
