SUMMER TIME.
ITS ADVENT TO-MORROW.
ALTERINQ THE CLOCK. . MAKING THE ADJUSTMENTS. . . Tlisc who take the simple precaution of advancing their clocks one hour just before they retire to-night need have no fear that they will be late for engagements to-morrow, when the Daylight Saving Act comes into operation. The actual time for the advancement of the clock an hour has been fixed at 2 a.in. on Sunday, but, no one will observe it as strictly as that, except the Government Departments.
The services in the churches will be changed or remain the same in the rural districts, according to the discretion of the ministers, but in the towns they will follow the clock. The Act Explained. A wireless talk by the “father” of the Bill, Mr T. IC. Sidey, will be broadcast from station 2YA, Wellington, at 8.30 this evening. The degree to which wireless broadcasting will be affected by advancing tilo clock, particularly as it concerns matter for children, is under consideration by the Radio Broadcasting Company’s head oilice. For the ensuing week, at least, programmes will be rendered at the same clock hour as formerly. Any alterations effected must apply equally to all four stations to ensure synchronisation. A point to be noted under the heading of wireless, however, is that Australian time will now be two and a-half, instead of one and a-half hours behind New Zealand time. Night workers whose duties occupy them into the small hours of Sunday morning will benefit to the extent of an hour by the change-over.
