PATERANGI.

Social Evening. * The social evening given by Mrs W. G. Macky at her residence last Tuesday in furtherance of the candidature of the local nominees in the Royal Carnival was largely attended, about 40 people being present. A most enjoyable time was spent by all. The young people danced, while their elders passed the time playing cards, quoits , and “bobs.” Mrs Signal, of Mangapiko, delighted the company with a song and Mr Perrott recited. The dance music was supplied by Mrs Macky, Miss E. Shaw and Miss K. Head. Mrs Macky’s large dining-room provided ample space for dancing. The cake given by Mrs J. Taylor was drawn for, the winners being little Miss Whitton, cousin of the “King” candidate. A most delectable supper was partaken of, and the company dispersed in the wee sma’ hours. As a result of the evening the fund benefited to the extent of £3 odd. Coming Events. A party of Hamilton artists has arranged a concert in the Paterangi Hall for Monday, November 14. The proceeds are to provide funds towards sending poor children to Gamp Fergusson, Okete, for a week's seaside holiday during the Christmas vacation. The concert arranged for Tuesday night by a company of Te Awamutu artists in aid of the Anglican Church, has had to be postponed owing to the indisposition of one of the performers.
