EVENTS ON CONCLUDING DAY
(Special to Times). AUCKLAND, Monday. 1 The Thames' Jockey Club's annual J&ce meeting was concluded at Ellerslie to-day in flue weather. The course was in good order, and there was a large attendance for an off day. Details of the racing are as follow: — TOTARA HURDLES. Of £150; H miles. % QUEEN EMERALD, Mr W. Gilmer). Winder trained by owner, Ellerslie. Mangani (£6581), Queen Emerald (£4651), and Te Tahi (£419), were best supported in that order. Wee Marble hit the front in the early stages from Marita, Lucilius, Mangani, and Simplicitus. Marita fell, at the first fence. Passing the stand Wee Marble was in front well clear of Scot Free. Then came Mangani, Queen Emerald, Lucilius, Simplicitus, Te Tahi, Whakatoe, and King of the Air. The latter was pulled up entering the back stretch. Wee Marble was well clear ' along the back from Mangani, Scot Free, Queen Emerald, Lucilius, Master Arch, and Te Tahi. Scot Free fell at the fence at the six furlongs post, nearly bringing Queen Emerald down, while at the next fence the leader, Wee Marble, , came to grief, Queen Emerald showed the way into ■ the
straight to Mangani, Te Tahi and Lucilius. The latter lost his rider at the vjlast Jump, Queen Emerald won easily three lengths from Mangani, with T.Y Tahi two lengths further back third. Winner trained by N. Cunningham, Ellerslie. ' Bold Front was the elect of backers, carrying £1499, with Modest Boy (£843) and Respirator (£508) next in demand. When the field settled down La Roma had charge from Ash Trav, Modest Boy, Respirator,'Luxurious' and Cullgie. Across the top the order was Ash Tray, La Roma, Modest Bov Respirator, and Luxurious. Modest"Bov was first into the straight from Ash Tray, La Roma, Respirator, and GulMe and went on to win easily by two lengths from La Roma, who was , one and a-half lengths ahead of Bold ' Front Respirator was fourth, follower pd by Abbey Day, Star Comet, Ash Tray, Cullgie and The Lover. Cox, Te Nancy Lee was first choice of investors with £1419,' High Finance (■£1350) and Oration (£814), being next best backed. High Finance was soon in front from Nancy Lee, Dave, Oration and Subdivision. As they raeed towards the half-mile post the order was High Finance, Nancy Lee, Dave Josie Melville, Subdivision and Oration. High Finance entered the straight in front of Dave and Nancy Lee and then came Subdivision, Josie Melville, Oration and Flying Tresses. The leader failed to stay and Nancy Lee came through to win by two lengths from High Finance, with Oration a length and a-half away in third place Dave was fourth, followed by Subdivision, Flying Tresses and Josie jMerville. NANCY LEE WINS PRESIDENT'S HANDICAP.

The spring pacing fixture of the Thames Jockey Club was concluded at Ellerslie to-day under good conditions, and descriptions of the second day's racing are given. IVJangani accounted for the Toiara Hurdles In decisive fashion, while Modest Boy scored convincingly when he led the field home in the County Handicap. Nancy Lee followed up her success of the first day by winning the President's Handicap. The Thames Steeplechase went to Pendavies, while the principal event, the Thames Plate, was won by Gala Day. 1

The Pendavies-Wiltshire bracket, with £938, t was installed favourite, next best support being for Glenotus (£9o3*) and Sea Comet (£4ll*). When they cleared the water jump Wiltshire was in front from Pendavies, Sea Comet, Glenotus (who received a cheer on getting over), and Raymond. Te Tahi refused at this fence. Pendavies and Wiltshire put a good gap on the rest of the Held, and when they reached the stand double again were about four lengths clear of Raymond, who was followed by Glenotus and Sea Comet. Wiltshire lost his rider at the fence by the six furlongs post, when leading up the back the last time. This left Pendavies in charge, and the Te Rapa candidate cleared the hill-top double two lengths in front of Raymond, who had a length to 'spare from Glenotus., Pendavies came to the last fence in 'the straight in front, with Raymond and Glenotus pressing him v closely. In the run home Pehdavies stayed on to win by three-quarters of a length from Glenotus, with Raymond 1£ lengths further back in third place. Sea Comet was fourth about 40 yards back. Time, G.B 3-8.
