LABOUR AND PROHIBITION

RETURN TO BEER URGED. CONDITIONS BECOMING WORSE. (Australian and N.Z. Cahle^Assn.) (Received October 4, 11.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, October 3. The Forty-seventh Convention of the American Federation of Laboui, unde. President Green, has opened at Los Angeles. Outstanding interest was contained in the report of the Executive Council which advocates the return to beer, and the introduction of a five-day week. In three conventions Labour lias pointed out the deplorable conditions which had come from the enforcement of the \olstad Act. The report contended that 2.75 beer would bring about true temperance, and declares that present conditions are steadily growing worse. Wholesome beer could be introduced without interfering with the Eighteenth Amendment.
