WOMAN WITH GOOD INCOME. IMPULSE MUST BE RESISTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Annie Ryan, aged 47, a widow, was sentenced to seven days’ gaol to-day for the shoplifting of goods valued at B's. The Magistrate, Mr Mosley said: “ There is no such thing as an irresistible impulse in these cases. Where impulses are not resisted they must be met by adequate punishment.”

The Police said the woman received £4 10s weekly from her husband’s estate.
