The weather was fine, though dull, for training work at Ellerslie this morning. The outside of the course proper was available, and provided good going. When galloping with Mask, Alloway broke his near fetlock, and had to be destroyed. Queen Emerald ran seven furlongs in 1.37 3-5. Baby Bun and Star Comet were in front of Thursby at the end of .seven furlongs run in 1.38 1-5. Sleepy Sol, Luxurious, and Restaurant got to the end of six furlongs in 1.22 1-5, ..finishing on . terms. Catkin worked steadily on the tan. Joy King ran four furlongs in 525, and Catonia three furlongs in 40s. Ballymoy and Gold Acre were together at the end of four furlongs in 52 3-5. Thaw' and Covent Garden were together at the end of three furlongs, which were run in 38 4-ss.

Pompey was too good for Charilaine in a half-mile sprint, which occupied 555. Itahepoto and Wyoming were toge■f (her, with Killute well back, at the ' end of seven furlongs in 1.37 2-5. Te Monanui and Desert Glow jumped off at the mile and a-quartcr post, and finished the full distance in 2.21, the round occupying 2.7, and the last six furlongs 1.24. They were practically together, but Pesert Glow appeared to be going the better at the end. Valour was a shade better than Metonic in a three-furlongs, sprint, run in 41s. Value and Prodice hopped off at the three-furlongs peg. After running the first furlong in 12 4-5, they completed the journey in 52 2-5. Master Clements defeated Rapoa over half a mile in 5Gs. Armenia and King Val ran a similar distance in 555. Ilipo and Oration jumped off at the six-furlongs peg, running the first furlong in 12 3-ss, two in 26 l-ss, and three in 395, and the full distance in 1.21 4-5. Archeno and Finelli were companions over six furlongs, which they ran in 1.21 1-5, the latter being in front.
