WESTFIELD MARKETS. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports:— At Westfield yesterday beef was penned in average numbers, there was little or no change in the de'mand, and we vruote values on a par with last week.
Extra choice ox sold to 32s per 1001 b; choice and prime ox, 27s to 30s; ordinary and plain ox, 24s to 26s 6d; prime young cow and heifer beef, 25s to 275; ordinary cow beef, 2t)s.to 245.
No extra heavy prime steers were penned; heavy prime steers, £l2 to £l2 15s; lighter prime steers £lO 17s 6d to £ll 17s Gd; light prime steers, £9 12s 6d to £lO 15s; unfinished and small, £8 10s to £9 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £8 5s to £9 15s; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £7 to £8 2s 6d; lighter, £6 to £6 17s 6d; light cows and heifers, £5 5s to £5 17s 6d; other cows, £4 to £5 2s 6d. Sheep were yarded in average numbers; competition was keen with values very firm at late quotations. Heavy prime wethers, woolly, £1 17s 3d to £2; shorn, £1 8s 6d to £1 10s; medium prime wethers, woolly, £1 14s to £1 17s; shorn, £1 7s to £1 8s 3d; light prime wethers, woolly £1 lis to £1 13s Gd; shorn, £1 Gs to £1 6s 9d; small and unfinished wethers, woolly, £1 8s to £1 10s; shorn, £1 3s to £1 5s 9d; heavy prime ewes, woolly, £1 10s to £1 14s 6d; medium prime ewes, woolly, £1 Gs to £1 9s; light prime ewes, woolly, £1 6s to £1 9s. Spring lambs were penned in large numbers and sold readily at late quotations. Extra heavy prime, £1 13s to £1 16s, for lambs fatted by Mr. J. R. Self, Papatoetoc; heavy prime, £.l 10s to ~£l 12s 6d; medium prime, £1 8s to £1 9s 9d; light prime, £1 4s to £1 7s 9d.
Pigs were penned in average numbers and met with a dull sale, values showing a considerable drop on late quotations. Choppers sold from £3 to £3 12s Gd; heavy and medium baconers, from £3 5s to £3 12s; light baooners and heavy porkers, from £2 16s to £3 3s; medium porkers and light porkers, from £2 Ss to £2 14s; small and unfinished porkers, £2 to £2 Gs. Store pigs in large numbers sold at late quotations. Large stores, £2 to £2 ss; slips, £1 10s to £1 16s; weaners, 15s to 235. Calves were penned in average numbers and values in the early part of the sale firmed on last week's quotations but in the latter stages eased considerably. Runners, £3 10s to £4 15s; heavy vealers, £4 4s to £4 18s; medium £3 12s to £4 2s; light, £3 to £3 10s f smaller, £2 10s to £2 18s; small and fresh-dropped, 6s ot £2 18s; rough calves, £1 to £2 ss.
