LISTENERS-IN AND COMPANY. GOVERNMENT CONTROL WANTEDj AUCKLAND, Wednesday. » Over GOO people attended a meeting i convened by the Auckland Listener's' league in Scots' Hall last evening, to discuss the operations of the Radio Brnardcasting Company, the resignation of Mr J. "M. Prentice, and other mailers.- ( The meeting carried a unanimous resolulion expressing wan! of con- . fidence in the company and urging the Government to assume control of broadcasting forthwith on the plau adopted in Britain. Mr J. A. Warnock, wjio presided, said that Mr W. Goodfellow, a director of the Broadcasting Company, had advised that as he had received no invitation to ihe meeting until 5 o'clock that evening he could not attend, and thai, in any event, he would not have addressed a public meeting, although he was quite prepared to meet the league's executive.
The following motion was also Carried:—"That, this meeting express its sincere regret, at the loss of (he services of Mr .). M. Prentice to broadcasting in New Zealand, and desires (o place, on record ils fullest appreciation of all his efforts on behalf of tho lis loners."
The, meeting broke up with loud cheers for the executive of the-league and for "Uncle Jack."
