A NECKLACE FASHION.

The very up-to-date girl now wears her necklace round the crown of her hat, instead of about her throat (says the Woman's Budget). A few weeks ago every London woman who was at ull "in fashion" wore a necklace of heavy gold links, not unlike part of- a dog chain, clasped tightly round her throat. Today these gold shackles are fixed round the front of the crown of her vagabond felt hat, and the effect is quite attractive. There is every likelihood that golden hat shackles will become very popular. The metallic links give a "trimmed" look to the plain felt hat, and when the links are hollow it prevents the htadgear being over-weighted. Plain "slave bracelet" necklets are also transferred from neck to hat by some girls. Actually, so far as appearance goes, the plain, rather heavy-looking band of gold round the crown of a brown vagabond felt hat is very striking, but here again it is necessary to have specially prepared hollow metal for the purpose, otherwise the hat will be too heavy for a woman to wear.
