PLUNKET SOCIETY.

BALL AT OHAUPO. The Ohaupo branch of the Plunkct Society held its annual hall in the Memorial Hall, Ohaupo, recently. The gathering was an unqualified success, both socially and financially, and those responsible are to be congratulated on the result of their efforts, by which the Society will benefit substantially, the proceeds being nearly £4O. This achievement entailed a considerable amount of forethought and organisation, and great credit is due to the ladies’ commiftce. the M.’sC., and all who worked so assiduously. The arrangements, which were on a vast, scale, wore carried out without a hitch. Special attention was paid to the preparation of the supper, the various dainty edibles being the work of the ladies. The decorations were unique and striking. The hall looked its best with its adornment of blue and gold streamers, stretching from a brightly coloured centre piece and suspended (o the walls. The stage, with its artistic arrangement, of flowers and greenery, formed a fitting background for the many beautifull colours of the frocks. The objective of the Plunked Society was ingeniously introduced into the decoration scheme in the form of large dolls, dressed as babies and suspended in various attitudes in bowers of greenery and masses of coloured paper, and one even occupied a perambulator. Excellent dance music was provided by Crawford's Orchestra (Hamilton). Extras were supplied by Mr Bruce Elliott (Ohaupo). The duties of M’s.C. were capably carried

out by Messrs Eltishank and O’Connor. Among those present were: Mesdames Anderson, jade crepe dc chine and lace; Tilmarsh, champagne georgette and lace: Urquhart, mauve and silver; E. ,T.
