TE AWAMUTU CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Tc Awamutu Bowling Club was held on Wednesday evening, the past year’s president (Mr R. L. Henderson) presiding over a good attendance of playing and honorary members. Before formal business was proceeded with the members paid a tribute of sympathy to the relatives of an esteemed honorary member, Mr J. Houston, all members standing in silence. The Annual Report. The chairman read his annual report as under:— Our season opened on October 6 with good weather and a splendid attendance, representatives from most of the surrounding clubs being present. Inter-club matches were played with the following results: — Saturday, Cambridge (i), W r on; Claudelands (2), won; Tc Kuiti (2), won; Olorohanga (3), won; Wednesday, Cambridge (I) lost. Wo were very successful in several inter-club tournaments. The committee meetings have been well attended, members taking great interest in the club affairs. There arc now Gi active members, 9 honorary members and 2 country members. Balance sheet. —The balance sheet shows a credit balance of £4O 2s Sd. In the assets, • furniture, crockery, etc., is shown as £35,. There is therefore a surplus of £75 2s Sd. In conclusion, I would thank the secretary, Mr F. B. Bowden, for the efficient manner in which he lias carried out the duties of ids office, likewise the green superintendent, Mr Cocker. The grcen-kceper, Mr Blackburn, is also entitled to his' rneed of praise for his careful attention at all times to the greens. And iasl, but by no means least, I would again thank the ladies for their loyal support

The balance sheet showed that the year started with a credit balance of £3l i7s 4d, and cash in hand £i ss; subscriptions totalled £l3O is, and honorary members’ subscriptions were £6 4s. Tiie profit on the open tournament was £ls 15s, and competition entry fees were £l2 4s 'hi. Local tournaments brought in a profit of £4 3s Gd, and locker fees were £7. The levy for afternoon teas was £.38 15s, and stoves disposed of brought in iGs Gd. The total was thus £238 Is 10d.

The year ended with a credit balance of £4O 2s Bd, the caretakers’ fees were £127 11s 7d, and other considerable items of expenditure were: —Afternoon teas £2l 17s lOd, green mowers £l9 17s 7d, trophies and engraving £IG 18s, telephone £lB 5s sd, and repairs and maintenance £3 9s Bd. The assets were shown as:—Furniture, crockery, etc. (less £5 depreciation) £35; sundry debtors and subscriptions outstanding £7 12s Gd, The liabilities were nil. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr A. S. Wallace; president, Mr Ross; vice-presidents, Messrs G. O. Jourdain, A. White and R. Metcalfe; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. B. Bowden (rc-elected); auditor, Mr H. A. Burchell (re-elected); green superintendent, Mr W. J. North; delegates to 5.A.8.A., Messrs Dunkley and Boss; general committee, Messrs R. Noonan, J. B. Wilson, G. F. Smith and S. McMillan; match committee, Messrs ■J. A. Hawkins and J. B. Wilson (Saturday), W. Douglas and F. B. Bowden (Wednesdays). A hearty vote of appreciation was accorded (o last year’s officers. It was decided to hold the annual full-rink open tournament again this year. The president offered a trophy fur the club handicap singles.—Accepted with thanks.

It was the unanimous wish of the meeting that the ladies be shown appreciation Of help rendered during the season. It was decided to arrange for a'special afternoon's play exclusively for ladies on the bowling green.
