YOUNG WIDOWER'S SUICIDE.

{By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTUN N., Friday.

The body of Huia George Smith, aged 22, was found hanging outside a house in Ruahine Street this morning. Deceased left a note stating his intention to commit suicide. Deceased lost his wife seven weeks ago, and it is believed this preyed on his mind.

WHANGAREI, Thursday.

Edwin Bankcs Laxon, aged 72, was killed on the Kamo level crossing at midday. Deceased, who was deaf, ou to the line in front 'of the south-bound mail train, and was carried across the cattle stop. Mr Laxon was horn at Papatoetoe, but had lived for many years in the North.
