Thousands of people waited all day to welcome Di Pinedo. After making a perfect landing he was conveyed to a special wharf lined by distinguished personages. Signor Mussolini stood aside while Di Pinedo saluted his wife after which the Duce embraced the aviator saying: "Commander, I bring you a grateful, enthusiastic, and affectionate welcome from the entire nation."
