DIOCESAN CONFERENCES. FAVOUR THE REVISION. SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITIES. (Australian and N'.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, June 15. Twenity important diocesan conferences, including meetings of the laity, have recorded their votes in connection with the new Church of England Prayer Book. The figures arej — In. favour 51^2 Against 1135 The opposition has apparently been localised. It is most noticeable in London, Manchester, Blackburn and Chester, where Protestantism has long held a strong ppsilion. The voting of the synods at Southward Sheffield and Ely, which was confined to the clergy, was as follows : In favour °l° Against It is now believed there win be an assured majority in favour of the new Prayer Book at the Church Assembly on July 4.
