WAKE UP HAMILTON WEST.

• (To the Editor.) Sir, —There are over 500 children attending the Hamilton West School. About 45 parents, of these children were present at.the Hamilton West School householders' meeting, with the result that the interests of 500 children are watched over by two West and seven Melville side-school committeemen. Fair representation would be two Melville and seven West, but Hamilton West parents show so little interest in the affairs of the school that they will not even attend the meeting of householders and vote. If they did attend and voted for a majority of Melville committeemen well and good; they would at least show an intelligent interest in what concerns their children, but when they are 100 apathetic to even attend the meeting it is poor encouragement for candidates to offer themselves for seats on the committee. On the other hand the Melville residents, numbering only about 60, are solid to a man. They take a deep and intelligent interest in their school, and each year when the election takes place put everything on one side and turn out in strength to support their candidates. I congratulate them heartily; they deserve their success, and my one regret is that I do not live at Melvjlle, as it would give me the greatest of pleasure to belong to a community which shows such a live interest in school matters,—lam, etc., R. P. HAYCOCKc
