BIBLE CLASS CAMP, CLAUDELANDS.

OPENED BY THE MAYOR

The opening service in connection with the above camp took place yesterday. The camp president, Mr J. Salisbury, occupied the chair, and with him on the piatform were the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr J. R. Fow, Pastor 11. Langford, of Thames and Mr D. Donaldson, president of the association. The spacious marquee was well tilled. Appropriate addresses were delivered* by the camp president, outlining the objectives of the camp, Mr Donaldson, on fundamentals of the faith, and Pastor Langford, on the sic.-ns of the times. His Worship congratulated the Churches of Christ on the fact that they had such a large gathering. lie welcomed the campers to Hamilton. He said the Christian faith was one that had stood the test of time and experience. Napoleon and others had built empires on blood. But the Lord Jesus Christ had drawn men to Him—prepared to sacrifice all for Him, by the winning powers of love alone. The greatest moral force in the world was that of the Christian churches. The campers and their visitors then partook of afternoon tea together. Visitors arc present from ail the branch churches. • The arrangements are very complete. Some of the officers arc:—Camp president, Mr J. Salisbury; Camp Father, Mr C.’f. OarratL; Camp Mother, Mrs T. Ashby, assisted by an able staff; secretary,' Mr A. L. Pearson, Claudelands. A public service was held last evening The marquee was full to .overflowing. Mr Chas. Waterhouse occupied the chair. The song service was conducted by Mr W. Thomson (choirmaster of West Street Church, Auckland. The speaker was Pastor 11. Langford, whose subject was, “When the Son of Man comcth, shall He find the Faith upon the Earth.” The address was listened to with rapt attention and manifest interest by the large audience. The services in connection with the Church of Christ to-morrow will be held at the cams. '
