A CLEVER BOY.
FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD AIRMAN. Although he is not yet 16 years of age, Robin Sanders-Clark, of Eygon Place, Westminster, London, has already learned to fly, aid is looking forward to a career in the air (says the London Daily Mail. He began flying only a few weeks ago, but has already spent 11 hours in the air, has performed “stunts," and is reported by his tutor (Mr Reeve, an instructor -at Stag Lane, Edgewarc, aerodrome) as a very apt pupil. Robin told a London reporter that he will not be able to take his Royal Aero Club certificate until after his seventeenth birthday, which is not until May next year. He added—
“Ever since I was a kid I have been keen on mechanical things, and when I was sent to Malvern College the routine was too rjiuch for me. At Christmas I persuaded father that I should not be happy until I took up flying seriously. “Father was doubtful and mother was quite alarmed, but I had my way and became a pupil of the flying school. I simply love being in the air, and certainly feel much spier than when I was walking about London streets. As I have no certificate I cannot fly beyond a three-mile radius of the aerodrome, but I am longing to make a really long flight with a spice of adventure in it. At present I am doing about 20 minutes to half an hour in the club ’plane—a Moth»-every day when it is suitable. My greatest ambition is to have a Moth of my own.
“When I have learned all about actual flying I want to get into the designing department of a firm of aeroplane makers and do some practical work.”
Mr Sanders-Clark, Robin’s falthcr, said that Robin was so enthusiastic that ho determined to let him have his way. “The boy wiil t go a Jong wav in Hying is enthusiasm means anything,’’ be added.
