LONDON, April 12
Major-General Sir Newton Moore (Conservative member for Richmond) asked in the House of Commons whether any records existed in liie War Office as to the orders issued to general officers in the Australian Forces in war time regarding the penalties that would he inflicted on machine gunners who might ho guilty of quitting their posts. ‘ Sir L. Worthington-Evans (Minister for War) : “There is no record of such order.” Ho iiad conferred with the members of liie House of Commons, who hud originally made the statement in the House of Commons,, and both were satisfied that the document they saw did not nccessaril' jyear the interpretation placed on it.
