Suzanne Lenglen, the lennis player, who will leave America for France on February 7, after the completion of three more engagements, states that Mile. Lenglen has made £20,000 profit out of her professional exhibitions of the game. Milo. Lenglen .received a fiat guarantee of £12,000, and also 50 per cent, of the gate receipts. Vincent Richards was guaranteed £7OOO and Miss Mary Browne £6OOO, and each also received 5 per cent, of the gate receipts. The present lour brought Mr Pyle £IOO,OOO in gate receipts. He lias estimated bis profits at £IO,OOO io £15,000. Exhibitions of tennis were given in 40 American cities. As a result, of the success achieved, lie has in contemplation ‘ a world tour this year. It would include visits to France, Germany, Japan, and Australia. MELBOURNE, Jan. 30. The final matches in the Australian lawn tennis championships resulted as follow:—Men’s doubles: Patterson and Hawkcs beat O’Hara Wood and McInnes. B—6, 6—l, 6—2. Women’s singles: Miss Boyd beat Airs Harper, 5—7, 6—l, 6—2. Mixed doubles: Ilawkcs and Miss Boyd beat Wcrthcifn and Mrs Harper, 4—G, 6—2, 6—i. The Bacup Cricket Club, one of the Lancashire League teams, states that A. J. Richardson, of the Australian team, had entered into a contract lo join the club in September- last. The contract was cancelled by mutual consent two days later, as Richardson was anxious to tour New Zealand with a South Australian team. He lias now decided to join Bacup in 1928, at a fee of £6OO.
