Success-of “LJan.s,’ s ’i3v!tTsh Film, “Mans;” the fine British film record of the heroism and endurance of the “Old CorrtemptibTes” in the first months of the war, is being shownin 90 kincma theatres throughout England, and from every quarter news comes of record attendances.
In Liverpool, for instance, more people saw “Mons" one night, than attended even the first day of “Ypres,” and New Era Films, which is distributing the picture, has been asked lo allow it to remain at that particular house another week. Those who have seen “Mons” include many thousands who never patronise the kinema as a rule, and il has been estimated that by the production of “Ypres,” “Zeebrugge,” and now, best of all, “Mons” at least 1,000,000 people in Great Britain alone have been added to the already enormous number of film enthusiasts.
In many towns special arrangements have been made for Lord Mayors and other civic dignitaries, also cx-Service men. and their relatives, to view “Mons.” The following week another 60 picture theatre will show “Mons,” which before the end of its run, will almost certainly have been booked kyat least half of the British 3.500 kincrnas.

Enid Bennett (Mrs Fred Niblo), Hie Australian girl, is hack in pictures, in “The Wrong Mr Wright." “The Volga Boatman," one of the big pictures of the year, will be screened in Hamilton shortly. Earned £9OO a Week. Miss Sophie Tucker, an American music-hall and revue artist, at present , in New York, was sued itt London for damages for breach of contract by the Julian Wylie Productions, Ltd. The suit was not defended. Mr Tristram Beresford, for the company, stated that Miss Tucker was performing in 1 925 at ihe Kit Kal Club and some of the London music-halls. His information was that by performing at seven different “shows” a night she earned about £9OO a week. Site agreed with Mr Julian Wylie, to. fake the principal part in a new revue ho proposed to stage in London and the provinces styled “So Long. Sophie.” At Hie end of 1925 Miss Tuckers mother became very ill. She went off lo America without informing Mr Wylie. Her mother died before sin. reached New 'lock.
