ATTACK ON MUSSOLINI

CLEMENCY TO ENGLISHWOMAN. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) ROME, Jan. 20. The Italian Government has decided to drop the prosecution of the Hon. Violet Gibson for tiring a revolver at Signor Mussolini, as she was not responsible for her actions. Moreover, the authorities are desirous of avoiding the prosecution of an Englishwoman. Miss Gibson will be handed over to the care of her family. On April 7, T 926, the Hon. Violet Gibson, a daughter of the first Lord Ashbourne, fired at Signor Mussolini as lie was about to enter his car in Rome, and slightly wounded him on the nose. The doctors who examined her in prison stated at the time that she was not responsible for her actions.
