CHARGE OF MURDER.

ALLEGED RESULT OF BLOW. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Wednesday. Arising out of the death of Robert Thclwcll, who was found unconscious on the pavement outside llic Record Reign Hotel last evening, and who subsequently died, Garnet Wolsclcy McMinn, freezing works employee, has been arrested on a charge of murder. It is alleged that deceased was struck by McMinn. McMinn’s arrest followed on n statement made this morning to Detective McLeod. McMinn is a freezing works employee at Kaitcratalil. Thclwall was also employed in Die same trade. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the dcatli of Thclwall opened before the Coroner, Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., at Cook Hospital this morning, formal evidence of identification being given. The inquest was then adjourned sine die, and a postmortem examination will meantime be made, of Die body. William Guild Thclwall, brother of deceased, said that deceased was a single man, 48 years of age, and was a freezing works butcher. He was recently employed at a quarry at Palulalii. His health had always linen good. Witness last saw In's brother alive yesterday afternoon, at which lime be was sober.
