SOCCER. LONDON, December 18. At Leicester 10,000 people attended the first amateur Soccer international match ever played between England and Scotland. Scotland won by 4 goals to 1. BOXING. SYDNEY, December 19. At the SLadium Tiger Payne, the American coloured middle-weight boxer, knocked oul George Thompson, the heavy-weight champion of Australia, in one round wit.ii a heavy blow on the side of Hie face. At Melbourne Do Leon knocked out Jack .lones in the seventeenth round of a well fought battle. Billy Crime retained the light-weight championship of Australia by knocking out Uren in the seventh round. Grime led on points all the way.
SWIMMING. The ladies' 100yds backstroke swimming match for the championship of New South Wales was won by Miss M. Mealing in Ira. 21 3-55., the Australian record. The visiting Japanese swimmers, Taikaishi and Saito, at the Brisbane Swimming Association's carnival easily defeated the Queensland champions in the 100 metres backstroke and 400 metres scratch races, the limes being lm. 21 2-ss. and sm. 21 4-ss.
