FRICTION WITH MANAGERS. SEVEN FORWARDS ON STRIKE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, Nov. 0. The Daily Express says the differences between seven forwards in the New Zealand Rubgy Lcagc learn and the manager, Mr Mair, have reached a climax. Mouat, Henry, Peterson, Wright, Dcvine and Carroll have issued an ultimatum threatening lo embark for home on November 19 unless their demands are met. The council or Hie English Rugby League, which guaranteed ihe expenses of Ihe lour, tried hard to effect peace al a meeting at Manchester on October 28, but Ihe friction continued. The forwards named positively declined to train or lo play under Mr Mair's control.
Mr Mair asserts lhat lie retains Ihe confidence of Ihe New Zealand Council and lhat Ihe New Zeaianders are certain lo lake the Held for Ihe second lest match at Hull on Saturday, though the odds arc greatly against them. The Gazelle says the English Rugby League Council is in communication with the New Zealand Council regarding Ihe strike of forwards. Ris understood an amicable settlement is likely. The. four forwards flrsl-named In the message were ordered by Ihe managers lo return lo the Dominion for refusing to play, and following Ibis command three other players expressed a wish lo return also.
