OTANE SHOOTING CASE.
MAORI YOUTH CHARGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Tuesday. A Maori youth, Hori Ngatoro, who is not quite 1G year's of age, appeared in the Supreme Court to-day to answer charges arising out of the shooting incident at Otane on September G. 'The charges were :—(1) Attempting to murder Edward Grace Watts; (2) wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm; (3) discharging a firearm with intent to do grievous bodily harm; (i) breaking and entering the dwelling of Watts with intent lo commit a crime. The hearing of the evidence for the prosecution had not concluded when the Court adjourned. The facts disclosed were in accordance with the evidence given in the lower Court at Waipawa. When Edward Watts, an elderly farmer living at Otane, returned to his home on the morning of September 6 be discovered an intruder in the dwelling. It is alleged that in a struggle which ensued a shotgun was fired, Mr Watts being removed to the hospital suffering from wounds, also shock.
