FALL FROM A WINDOW.
CAPTAIN ROBERTSON HURT. PROPOSER OF N.Z. FLIGHT. DOUBTS ON HIS BONA FIDES. <United Press Association.) SYDNEY, Oct. 14. Serious injuries were sustained today by Captain Robert Robertson, who arrived here from Auckland by Ihe Ulimaroa on Tuesday, when tic said lie had come lo arrange a flight from Sydney to New Zealand. He fell from a window on the fourth floor of the New South Wales Aero Club's building in the cily on lo,llic roof of the verandah, lie was carried through a window on the first floor and sent to a hospital in a serious condition. Captain Hughes (president of the Aero Club) slates that Robertson called on him at the club to discuss Ills flight scheme. Robertson was closely questioned by Captain Hughes, who says he came to' the conclusion that many of his statements would not bear investigation. In the presence of witnesses Captain Hughes told his visitor lie considered he was an impostor, and that to safe-
guard the interests of aviation be would get into touch with the police. Captain Hughes says Robertson then leaped out of the window of his ofllco. He struck the top of the oriel window on the next floor below, rebounded and crashed to the verandah roof at ttie first-floor level.
When Captain Hughes and the visitor were discussing details of the proposed llight, the former says, he found the whole proposal vague. Robertson was then questioned regarding statements which were.alleged lo have appeared in New Zealand newspapers to the effect.that Ihe Arco Club of Australia was going to provide him with a machine.
Robertson denied having made such statements. Captain Hughes states that after Robertson had been further questioned he admitted that he had never been in a Hying corps. Then as Captain Hughes turned lo the telephone to ring up the police lie says Robertson leaped through the window. When Captain Robertson arrived on tile Ulimaroa he said he was suffering from a nervous breakdown, and would take two weeks' holiday.
