CITY AND COUNTRY. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROTEST (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, Mr K. 11. Ilyles reported regarding a complaint made about country racing clubs holding their meetings in Christehurch. The mailer was laid before Ihe executive of the New Zealand Federation of Drapers, Mercers, Clothiers and Boot Retailers held in Wellington, in June, when the following motion was passed:—"That this federation protests against the too frcquqent transfer of country race meeting permits to metropolitan centres as being an unfair burden on the trading community."
