ROSEBURY JERSEY SALE,

A SUCCESSFUL DISPERSAL.

A large attendance of local and visiting breeders coming from as far north as the Waffeato and Oamaru in the south was present at Mr J. R. McDonald's Rosebury dispersal sale. Practically the whole offering was sold under the hammer, the exception being a few special cows on which Vs.2 vendor placed a high reserve. The chief attraction was the beautiful young cow Holly Oak Countcssa, by Grannie's Knight from • Lambert's Countess. She was passed in at ISO guineas, the owner's reserve being 100 guineas. Mr J. Blair. Taumarunui, paid the top price of 101 guineas for Holly Oak Raven Lady, also by Grannie's Knight, but from Ravenswood Princess. Three other older cows showing good typo and dairy quality realised 70 guineas or over. Of the young heirers, Ardon's Golden Maid realised 7"> guineas, to the bid of Mr J. Nicholson. Manakau. Of the -U cows catalogued, 32 averaged Signs., while the whole of the in-calf heifers, 17 in number, were disposed of under the hammer for an average of 2f>gns. The heifer calves, which were rather backward in condition, sold at prices ranging up to 20 ard 21gns. The voting bulls by Holly Oak Trombone, were keenlv competed for, making up to 32igns. The sale was conducted by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co tld in conjunction wilh Messrs Abrch'am and Wir'ams, Ltd.. and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd. LONDON MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated 2-Uh instant: — "Butler. —The market is slow. We quote: New Zealand liuest salted, 172 s to. 17 is: exceptional brands 17Gs; Danish, 1725: finest Australian, salted. 170 s lo 1725; unsalted, 1725. "Cheese. —The market is quiet.
