"THE CHOICE."
CAMBRIDGE LITERARY SOCIETY. The Cambridge Literary and Debating Society held its third meeting of the season last night, when "'The Choice," by Alfred Sutro. was read by members. Cambridge is very fortunate in possessing several very talented readers. In this play most of the parts were memorised, giving Ihe characterisations a very lifelike and convincing portrayal. The part ol John Cordwav was ably taken by Mr Chas. Meredith. The part, of Lady Clarissa Carleon was very Charmingly portrayed by Mrs Harold Possenmskie. The difficult cliaraeler of Robert Dalman was very ably taken iiy Mr F. Kingsford, and Mr Rowland made an effective Lord Sandhills. A great deal of humour was introduced hy Mrs S. Cowling as Lady Jemima Ballardaile. Mr \ H Gascoigne capably sustained the 'character of Timothy Cordways. and Mrs W. .1. Ward lilled the part or Mrs Cordways. Other characters worc : __Mi.«s Kitty Brabant as Ann Knanp, and Miss Margaret Sands and Master Harold Caller, Maid and Scout respectively. At the ebse of tb.e piny. Hie actingpresident. Rev. Mortimer Jones, congratulated the readers on their splendid work.
