GETTING THE BEST RESULTS. EXPERTS IN HAMILTON. Colonel Guy Symonds, D. 5.0.. road expert t.o the British Imperial Oil Company. who is visiting New Zealand, arrived in Hamilton on Thursday evening. At the Hamilton Hotel yesterday the

British Imperial Oil Company tendered a luncheon, to which it invited representatives of the various local bodies. Tim following were represented: — Waipa, Raglan, Waikato, Cambridge Road Board, Hamilton Borough, Morrinsvillc Borough, and Cambridge Borough. The object of meeting these representatives was to introduce Mr Edwards, who is manager of the asphalt department of the British Imperial Oil Company. Mr Edwards, who is among the world's leading authorities in his particular department, was in charge of arterial roads for the Ministry of Transport in England for some lime prior to his recent arrival to lake over the New Zealand management of the asphalt department of the British Imperial Oil Company. Colonel Symonds, in a few remarks at the luncheon yesterday, reminded the representatives of the local bodies that some costly mistakes had been made in some countries in regard to road making in the past, and he advised them to profit by these mistakes so that they would achieve the best results in the interests of the ratepayers they represented. While he is in this district Colonel Symonds has been requested, and has agreed, to give advice to various local bodies in regard to road construction. To-day he is visiting the areas of the Cambridge Road Board, the Cambridge Borough, and the Morrinsville Borough. Colonel Symonds will go on to Auckland at the week-end, where he will spend some time, and will later visit Taranaki and the Manawatu, prior to leaving on his return to England within the next six weeks.

Mr Brassey Edwards will accompany Colonel Symonds over the remainder of Lhc tour, after which lie will continue in New Zealand as the representative of the company in the asphalt department.
